Lightbox Alchemy
Welcome to Lightbox Alchemy. I make things the long way, the slow way, the way that leaves a mark on you.
I enjoy the dust, bruises, and busted knuckles of life. My tintypes are made on my own terms. I’m not chasing perfection. I want the raw, uneven, human truth that shows through when the chemistry runs wild and the light doesn’t behave. That’s where the soul is. For me, photography is a love story I’m writing in silver and grit—a story that doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be real.
The Process & The Magic: Tintype photography is an 1800s process of a direct positive image, exposed through a wet chemical process directly onto a thin metal plate. As one of the earliest photographic methods in history, it requires an immense amount of patience, intent, and craft. In my studio, I utilize a historic, large-format Kodak Eastman 2D view camera to capture your legacy. When you sit for a portrait, you don't just walk away with a photograph—you get to experience the art yourself. You get to watch your portrait develop like some kind of old magic right before your eyes.
Step Into the Light: Whether you are a modern bride looking to immortalize your love story, a fellow creator, or someone who values fine-art heirlooms, I invite you to step in front of the lens. Let’s capture your story.
