Family Fun in Savannah City Market

Savannah City Market is a great spot to spend a few hours doing things that both children and adults can enjoy. Whether you live in Savannah or you’re visiting with family, we created an itinerary for you to plan a day in Savannah City Market. It should take about 3-4 hours to get all of these points but you may want to plan some extra time to explore City Market.

Explore the American Prohibition Museum
If you arrive before Noon, most of the shops are just opening so start with a tour of the American Prohibition Museum. This isn’t your typical museum with exhibits and artifacts for you to see… It’s an interactive experience with actors guiding through the history of the prohibition era in America. At the end, you exit through the Congress Street Up Speakeasy where you can enjoy the scene or get a craft cocktail!

Visit Artists
No matter what style of art you enjoy, you can find it in Savannah City Market. We have everything from animals to landscape to portraits of people from all over the world. On the lower level, several art galleries are here to view or buy from local and international artists. Upstairs we have the North Art Center and South Art Center where you can meet with local artists and discover new types of art. Art is a great way to take a piece of Savannah home with you.

Enjoy A Meal
By lunch time, you will not have to look far for great food. If you want to enjoy Southern coastal cooking and the outdoors, grab a seat at The Café at City Market (Be sure to ask them about the famous Peach Sangria). However, if you are in the mood for comfort foods, The Little Crown by Pie Society is an award-winning pub serving authentic British meat pies and dessert pies as well as craft cocktails. If you aren’t quite ready for a full meal, then a slice of Vinnie Van Go Go’s pizza will hit the spot!

Get a snack for now or later
After your meal, head over to Savannah Candy’s Kitchen for a sweet treat. They have the largest candy counter in Georgia serving old fashioned favorites, classics, and a few new candies. It gets even better with options such as candy apples, popcorn, and ice cream. If the adults are in the mood for a drink, stop in to Wet Willie’s or The Georgia Tasting Room for a to-go cocktail. It’s the perfect snack while the kids play in the Ellis Square Splash Pad or while you enjoy a trolley ride
